Security Update: System Outages & Network Access Changes

Security Alert: October 21, 2026

The Security team is applying critical security patches across our environment. To protect our systems during this process, please note the following updates:

Certain internal tools (including forms.odu.edu and some faculty personal web pages) will temporarily require connection from on-campus networks or through the ODU VPN only.

Additionally, a small number of internal apps are being taken offline temporarily until further notice.

Campus Network Partial Power Outage at Powhattan Dorms

Construction continues to portions of the area around Powhattan 2 Dorm Complex causing a partial power outage. Affected dorms include BB (James H), EE (Franklin), HH (James City), KK (Surry), LL (York), and MM (George).

We are still experiencing a power outage with portions of the Powhattan 2 Dorm Complex due to construction in the area, We do not have any more information on an expected uptime.

Campus Network Partial Power Outage at Powhattan Dorms

Due to construction in the area, portions of the powhattan 2 dorm complex are without power. Affected dorms include BB (James H), EE (Franklin), HH (James City), KK (Surry), LL (York), and MM (George). We do not have an estimated uptime but we will post an update when we have more information.

Grubhub

An issue with Grubhub ordering was discovered on the morning of 5/17/23. Ordering via grubhub was not available during this outage. The incident has been resolved and Grubhub is operational. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
